What happened to TestOut PC Pro? A+ alternatives in 2026

By Jonathon Eades, IT instructor · Updated October 2026

TestOut PC Pro was a popular hands-on A+ course, especially in schools. It isn't sold under that name any more. Here is what happened, and where to get the same kind of hands-on practice for the current A+ exams, 220-1201 and 220-1202.

What happened to TestOut

CompTIA bought TestOut in 2023.
CompTIA then renamed TestOut's LabSim platform CertMaster. Its help article says existing LabSim logins keep working.
TestOut's own Pro certifications, PC Pro among them, were discontinued. CompTIA replaced them with a Certificate of Competency.
On October 13, 2026, CompTIA's old PC Pro page redirected to its A+ V15 page, and the last PC Pro versions we could find were for the retired 220-1101 and 220-1102 exams.

CompTIA hasn't published a one-to-one replacement for PC Pro. For A+, its hands-on training now sells as CertMaster Labs and CertMaster Perform, the product CompTIA describes as formerly CertMaster Learn+Labs.
